"Your story is more than words" | Bron's 28th Birthday is tomorrow. That day we got the news that finally after many mishaps the feeding tube is ready to use. It won't be a birthday cake but it is much needed nutrition. It has been many months since she ate properly. And weeks since it was anything at all that stayed down. Fear was a big part of our days. I would drive in each morning with Max, my wonderful, brilliant, loving son-in-law. He would drop me off at the hospital at 7:30 am and go to work knowing Bron was not alone. It was the very least I could do for him. Besides the drives back and forth gave us time to really talk. I didn't want him feeling like he had the whole world on his shoulders alone. Bron is trying hard to stay strong. When reflection went up on the wall along side the others, the nurses were further drawn into our silent world of recognition. Bron had the patter down pat: "did you draw those?" would ask anyone who wandered into the room from doctors to housekeeping. "No, my mother did those." She would say with a smile full of pride. I was only just beginning my life as an artist having sold 30 charcoals in the last 3 years. "well you are very good, you should be selling this stuff", they would reply to me. "Well I do other kinds of art that I sell, and it looks like I'm going to need to sell a whole lot more since I'm going to have to fly from Montreal to Kansas more often." While we would glance at Bron and many words would then go unsaid. It was through this exchange that drawingforbron raffle idea was born. Why not choose some pieces I had just finished, three of the charcoals very much with Bron in mind. See about for more information on the raffle tickets and art pieces choosen by Bron, Max and I together. |
I can't find the Fabrice Backes inspiration for Reflection I will post it here when I find it. |
